Who it is for
Children aged 4 and over. Ballet is the foundation we recommend under every other style: it builds the posture, strength and musicality that every other class draws on.
Classes are graded, so children work with others at their level and progress at a pace that suits them.
What happens in a class
- Barre work Warm-up and technique at the barre, building strength and placement.
- Centre work Positions, port de bras and centre practise away from the barre.
- Travelling steps Steps and turns across the floor, broken down and repeated until they land.
- A short dance Putting the technique into a real piece of choreography to finish.
Where it can lead
Graded examinations and medals through our awarding bodies, and a place in the Christmas show. For older students, ballet underpins vocational applications.
